During the month of November the Tanbridge Students collected food bank items in support of the Veterans Food Drive. Thank you to all of our families that made this a huge success!
Meals on Wheels
On Friday November 18th, we were excited to have a special visitor join us from Meals On Wheels. Colleen has been working closely with our Junior High teachers and students to make our delivery route on Mondays and Wednesdays possible. At the assembly, Colleen, along with some of our junior high students, shared their knowledge and experiences with Meals on Wheels. Colleen introduced the elementary students to their invovlement with the program through the Christmas Cards campaign. This program ensures that the Meals on Wheels clients receive a special wish this holiday season.
2012 Tanbridge Spelling Bee The Tanbridge Students are busy preparing for the 2012 Tanbridge Spelling Bee taking place on January 13th at 1:00 pm. The winner from the Tanbridge Bee will have the opportunity to qualify for the Calgary Regional Spelling Bee and maybe even go on to participate in the 2012 National Spelling Bee. We welcome our Tanbridge families to attend this event.
Tanbridge Academy Titans
The 2011-2012 Basketball Season is up and running. The first exhibition game for Grade 7 students took place on Wednesday, November 23rd against Lycee Louis Pasteur School. Although the students worked hard and learned lots throughout the game, they lost 35-18. With additional practice time during phys ed, and regular exhibition games before the season begins in December, the coaches are confident that the team will have a very successful season! Our second exhibition game against Louis Pasteur resulted in the team's first victory this season with a 14-13 win! The schedules for the Grade 7 and Grade 8/9 teams' regular season games have been posted on the Edmodo calendar in the Titans group. The code to join the group is 7vsbrp. The Grade 8/9 team will begin their games on December 6th, while the Grade 7 team has their first league game on December 13th. Go Titans!
Swimming Grade 4-6 students are taking part in swimming lessons at Glenmore Aquatic Centre. They will participate in five classes until our Christmas break as they try to each improve their skills in the pool. The instructors spend time working on skills, such as front crawl, treading water, shallow dives and proper kicks, while giving the students a chance to play around on the diving board when they’re lucky!
Badminton This year, our Grade 7 and 8 students have been provided with an exciting opportunity to work with the nearby private school Lycee Louis Pasteur with their Badminton program they run after school. No experience is necessary so come on out and challenge yourself to a new sport!
